I know it’s really late, and I actually told Cherie that I was going to sleep 15 minutes ago, but I ended up reading Xiaxue’s blog instead. Ack. I think 2 a.m. is a really bad time to be reading her blog.
She seems to have grown a lot in the past few years, becoming more and more confident, and seemingly less and less receptive to the views of others.
Her entries are phrased in such a controversial manner that it would be a wonder if people did not flame her. The funny thing is that I realised that I actually agree with many of her points of view, as long as I take away all the extravagant emotion that seems to ooze out from every entry.
Yes, it IS her blog and yes, she CAN put ANYTHING she wants on her blog and NO ONE can or has the right to stop her, as long as it’s not directly harming anyone else. It’s just… odd, that she doesn’t seem to fully understand that everyone ELSE has a point of view as well. If she feels that it is perfectly okay for her to express her points of view, no matter how controversial or even unwelcomed, then shouldn’t it be okay for others to express their points of view to her as well?
Some of us may think, “but it’s her blog, and if they don’t like her points of view, why not they just leave?!” What’s the point of the commenting system then? After all, it’s not exclusively put there for her well-wishers, but also for those who have differing ideas on the same matter. Furthermore, if she has the right to express herself in such a feisty manner, full of anger, sarcasm and whatnot, shouldn’t everyone else get to do the same?
Her entries are often injected with bouts of her own emotion, and are not just mere facts stated on a column of pink space. Hardly should she expect people to reply with any less zest. And no, I don’t expect her to blog just mere facts, because that would be extremely dull. Basically, I just expect her to be less critical about opposing views, and to be more receptive to people when they tell her something she doesn’t like to hear.
After all, she DOES know that there are a large number of people reading her blog, and posting hugely controversial views or doings of her life is bound to cause some form of an uproar.
Hi. Quite an eloquent summation of Xiaxue’s writing and how she handles criticism, which is to say – she doesn’t.
Hello! Thank you.
A few years back, I used to think that she was indeed a a fairly good writer who was “brave enough” to express herself. She still took criticism seriously then. Within 2 years or so, she developed into well… this.
